III. FROM FLAT MATERIAL TO VOLUME : FOLDED PAPER

Low relief, - an area that is raised off of a flat surface but is still very shallow.




High relief,  - a high raised area off of a flat surface.











Primary Contours, - the most important, or darkest lines of a piece.












Secondary Contours,  - important lines that are less important or dark as the primary contours












Volume, - the mass that an object has, 3D shape to an object.






Activated Space - space that is worked by an artist in a way that makes it important.
