Mass/Creative and Functional Design: Toy, Game or Invention [Project]

Toy/Invention and Packaging.

V. STRUCTURE/ABSTRACTION: ALTER EGO [Project]

I made my alter ego mask out of various materials.

Description: Apocalyptic Mask -

My alter ego is meant to have people think about destruction. Today, when people hear about disasters, they are extremely apathetic because of the bombardment of tragedy and gore in the media and pop culture. By wearing the mask, it deprives the wearer of their own world and they can really think about how those people in destroyed nations, like today with Japan, have to feel. When you look in the mirror you see an exaggerated account of nuclear destruction, or maybe biological warfare, or perhaps a zombie apocalypse. The mask makes the viewer see an alter ego where they are vulnerable and have had everything taken away from them.
